Role overview

Food Safety & Compliance Specialists work with hotel, restaurant, and grocery clients to help them maintain brand standards, food quality, and excellent service. This position is focused on evaluating operations, identifying gaps, and guiding clients toward safer and healthier workplace practices.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out assessments to verify compliance with regulatory, industry, and brand-specific standards.
  • Review food preparation and cooking practices to support food safety, sanitation, and health requirements.
  • Work with clients to identify the underlying causes of assessment issues and build corrective action plans.
  • Train and coach clients on improving workplace safety and customer health outcomes.
  • Travel as required, up to 50% of the time or around 10 days per month, including some evenings and weekends.

Requirements

  • Must meet the criteria needed to obtain CP-FS certification.
  • Should be comfortable with a flexible Sunday-to-Saturday schedule.
  • Must be willing to travel by car and/or plane up to 50% of the time.
  • Needs the physical ability to lift up to 10 lbs at chest height and perform tasks involving stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
  • Strong active listening and communication skills are essential.
  • Requires a keen eye for detail and a willingness to learn.
  • Must have solid organization and time-management abilities.
  • Should be able to influence others tactfully and skillfully.
  • Needs to provide feedback in a clear, constructive, and positive way.
  • Must be able to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Should be able to organize work based on urgency, efficiency, and related factors.
  • Must have a safe driving history and a strong commitment to safe work practices.
  • Food safety technical knowledge is preferred.
  • ServSafe and/or CP-FS credentials are an added advantage.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check.
  • A valid driver's license is required, along with a successful motor vehicle record review.

Compensation

The budgeted annual salary for this role is CAD 42,000 to CAD 46,000.
