Role overview
This is a permanent, full-time food counter attendant position based in Sidney, British Columbia. The workplace is in an urban setting, and the role is carried out in English.
Working hours
The schedule runs between 32 and 38 hours each week. Shifts may include early mornings, mornings, daytime, evenings, nights, weekends, and rotating shifts.
Education and experience
No formal education, certificate, or diploma is required. The employer is prepared to train the right person, so previous experience is not mandatory.
Main duties
The position involves serving customers, preparing simple menu items, and keeping the food service area clean and well stocked. You will also support dishwashing, food handling, counter service, and basic sanitation tasks throughout the kitchen and dining area.
Work environment and physical demands
The job is fast-moving and can be physically demanding. It includes repetitive duties, long periods of standing, and working under pressure. You may need to handle items weighing up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
Equipment and tools
Experience using an electronic cash register is part of the role.
Safety and transportation
The position requires that the candidate be bondable. Public transportation is available to the work site.

- Cleaning and sanitizing dishwasher mats, carts, and waste containers
- Clearing and wiping down tables, trays, and chairs
- Loading buspans and trays
- Running dishwashers for dishes, glassware, and flatware
- Topping up condiments and supplies at tables and service counters
- Washing dishes and other items by hand
- Scrubbing pots and pans
- Recording food usage quantities
- Packing take-out orders
- Portioning and wrapping food
- Preparing, heating, and finishing basic food items
- Serving customers at counters or buffet stations
- Restocking refrigerators and salad bars
- Taking customer orders
- Using manual and powered equipment to clean, peel, slice, and trim ingredients
- Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen surfaces, cupboards, storage spaces, appliances, and equipment
- Handling and storing cleaning supplies safely
- Receiving, unpacking, and storing products in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas
- Removing garbage and kitchen waste
- Sweeping, mopping, washing, and polishing floors
- Washing, peeling, and cutting fruits and vegetables
