Role Overview

Amentum, a global provider of advanced engineering, technical, and professional services for the U.S. government, allied partners, and essential infrastructure, is hiring a Fire Alarm Dispatcher for a specialized U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia.

What You’ll Do

  • Keep watch over fire alarm systems and react quickly to incoming alarm notifications in line with emergency procedures.
  • Take emergency calls, assess urgency, and send fire department personnel to the scene as needed.
  • Use radios, phones, and computer-aided dispatch tools to support emergency coordination.
  • Stay in constant contact with responding teams and share live updates as situations develop.
  • Record all calls, dispatch actions, and response details accurately for logs and reporting.
  • Check alarm system performance, identify faults quickly, and escalate issues for prompt correction.
  • Track alarms and planned maintenance work to help reduce downtime and prevent system disruptions.
  • Work closely with Fire and Emergency Services staff to maintain smooth communication during incidents.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
  • Telecommunicator I and II plus Hazmat Awareness certifications are required under applicable standards; new hires must complete all required certifications within 12 months of joining to work independently.
  • At least 1 to 3 years of experience in emergency dispatch, fire communications, or a similar field.
  • Ability to stay composed in high-pressure situations while dispatching help accurately and without delay.
  • Experience using communication tools such as radios and CAD systems.
  • Strong recordkeeping and organizational skills for maintaining dispatch and alarm documentation.
  • Clear spoken communication skills for relaying concise instructions and updates.
  • Must be able to meet contract medical requirements and remain compliant throughout deployment.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and keep required facility credentials and authorization.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in an austere overseas environment with a multinational workforce.
  • Valid driver’s license from the relevant country.
  • Country visa, if required under the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
  • Past experience in fire dispatch for a government, military, or emergency response organization.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Navy or Department of Defense fire alarm and dispatch procedures.
  • Additional training or certification in emergency dispatch, communications systems, or situational response.

Additional Responsibilities and Standards

Safety: Employees are expected to help maintain a safe workplace by completing required training, supporting self-aid/buddy-aid duties, taking part in emergency response activities, and serving on safety groups when needed.

Quality: Team members must follow the company’s quality policy, meet customer expectations, and comply with quality system documents and contract obligations. Employees are expected to understand their responsibilities tied to quality management and customer satisfaction.
