About the Role

Amentum, a global leader delivering advanced engineering, technical, and professional services to the US government, allied nations, and critical infrastructure sectors, is recruiting an Assistant Fire Chief of Training. This critical position supports a specialized US Navy program located on Diego Garcia Island.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) training initiatives, ensuring programs meet established fire service standards and certification requirements.
• Develop and execute customized training curricula tailored for a diverse, multinational firefighting workforce.
• Manage all facets of firefighter education, from classroom teaching to practical drills, exercises, and simulated scenarios.
• Assess trainee and personnel performance during exercises and drills, providing constructive feedback to foster continual improvement.
• Guarantee personnel maintain valid fire service certifications aligned with standards such as NFPA, DoD, and Navy-specific regulations.
• Organize and maintain a schedule of mandatory certification courses, ensuring full regulatory and contractual compliance.
• Supervise the acquisition, proper maintenance, and condition of training tools and materials.
• Establish and enforce policies, procedures, and protocols for consistent and safe training delivery.
• Keep meticulous training documentation and generate compliance reports for audits and inspections.
• Act as the primary liaison with external training organizations, certifying agencies, and related stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum of three years managing a Fire and Emergency Services training section comparable in scale and complexity to Diego Garcia operations.
• Certified as Assistant Chief of Operations and Fire Instructor III under recognized fire service training standards.
• Possess a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent.
• Proven expertise in designing and presenting comprehensive fire and emergency training programs.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership capabilities, with aptitude for mentoring and managing a multinational team.
• Meet the necessary medical criteria to maintain contract compliance throughout deployment.
• Ability to secure and sustain required facility access credentials and authorizations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating in austere, overseas environments with diverse multinational personnel.
• Valid local driver’s license.
• Relevant country visa aligned with U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance standards.
• Advanced education in fire service leadership, training methodologies, and firefighting tactics.
• In-depth knowledge of NFPA, DoD, and Navy-specific training standards.
• Experience managing procurement and upkeep of fire training equipment and related resources.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct extensive large-scale training exercises and simulations under challenging conditions.
