Role overview
The Finance Director will steer the company’s financial function end to end, ensuring strong financial stewardship, full regulatory compliance, and alignment between financial decisions and broader business goals. This position plays a key role in strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, treasury oversight, and risk management, while also supporting senior leadership with reliable analysis and guidance.
Financial leadership and strategy
- Create and put into action a finance strategy that supports the organization’s overall business direction.
- Deliver practical financial analysis and recommendations to senior executives.
- Evaluate and support growth plans, capital investments, and strategic initiatives from a financial perspective.
- Drive long-term planning focused on sustainability and financial resilience.
Planning, forecasting, and analysis
- Own the annual budgeting cycle and recurring forecasting activities.
- Track financial results against budgets and key performance indicators.
- Review variances, investigate causes, and recommend corrective measures.
- Build financial models and business cases to support important decisions.
Financial reporting
- Oversee the preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports on schedule.
- Manage statutory financial statement preparation in line with IFRS or other applicable accounting standards.
- Present financial performance and results to executive leadership and the Board.
Treasury and cash management
- Supervise cash flow, liquidity, banking relationships, and financing matters.
- Strengthen working capital efficiency and ensure funding is available for operations.
- Monitor investments and outstanding debt obligations.
Risk, control, and compliance
- Set up and maintain strong internal controls and finance governance processes.
- Ensure adherence to local laws, tax rules, and internal corporate policies.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and follow through on audit observations.
- Spot financial risks early and implement mitigation measures.
Team leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop the finance team.
- Set clear performance goals and growth plans for team members.
- Encourage accountability, ongoing improvement, and a high-performance culture.
Stakeholder engagement
- Work closely with auditors, regulators, banks, investors, and other external parties.
- Support leadership during financial negotiations and strategic partnerships.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline is required.
- A master’s degree, such as an MBA or a finance-focused qualification, is preferred.
- Professional credentials like CPA, ACCA, CMA, or CA are highly desirable.
