Role Overview

The Finance Manager will guide and enhance the company’s financial management, collaborating directly with Managing Directors, department leaders, shareholders, banks, accountants, and external consultants. This pivotal role combines strategic finance, operational oversight, reporting, cash management, and mergers & acquisitions assistance. The successful candidate will evolve finance into a proactive steering function and build exemplary financial systems and reporting frameworks. As a core executive member, the role significantly contributes to company growth and value creation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
  • Compile monthly management reports and conduct detailed financial analyses.
  • Track actual performance against budgets and forecasts.
  • Generate actionable insights and recommendations for leadership.
  • Create and refine KPI dashboards and performance indicators.
  • Drive profitability analysis by client, project, team, and service line.
  • Enhance project controlling and margin transparency.
  • Assist in resource planning and capacity management.
  • Spot opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
  • Implement data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Manage cash flow planning, liquidity forecasts, and working capital optimization.
  • Oversee banking relations and financing tasks while ensuring compliance with agreements.
  • Supervise monthly, quarterly, and annual closing and coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial disclosures and enhance internal processes, controls, and automation.
  • Support acquisition due diligence, integration efforts, and strategic growth evaluations.
  • Engage in business cases, investment assessments, and post-merger performance monitoring.
  • Act as a strategic partner to executives and department heads, translating financial data into business insights, challenging assumptions, and fostering data-informed decisions.

Candidate Profile

  • Between 5 and 10+ years in finance, controlling, transaction services, corporate finance, private equity, consulting, or similar fields.
  • Previous roles as Finance Manager, Head of Finance, or in corporate finance, controlling, or transaction services.
  • Strong capabilities in financial modeling, analysis, and reporting, with experience in budgeting and forecasting.
  • Experience preferably in project-based businesses, professional services, agencies, technology firms, or private equity backed companies.
  • Knowledge or involvement in M&A, due diligence, integrations, or value creation initiatives is advantageous.
  • Preferred experience in environments backed by private equity.
  • Highly analytical with strong business understanding and an entrepreneurial, proactive approach.
  • Execution-focused, able to navigate fast-growing environments and balance strategic and operational matters.
  • Excellent at communication and managing stakeholders, with a natural curiosity to challenge existing practices.
  • Strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
  • Holds a university degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields; professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, ACCA, Wirtschaftsprüfer, or Steuerberater are a plus but not mandatory.
  • Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.
