About the role
PwC New Zealand is looking for an Associate Director to join its Finance, Economics & Analytics practice within Consulting. In this role, you will help tackle sophisticated problems across a range of industries by combining economic thinking with financial and commercial judgement to deliver practical, high-impact advice.
The work spans a broad mix of analytical and strategic assignments, including building financial models, preparing business cases, carrying out valuations, assessing strategic alternatives, supporting transactions, shaping investment and regulatory strategy, conducting economic analysis, and delivering commercial or market regulation support.
Based in Auckland, this position sits within the Consulting business unit under the wider Advisory line of service, and you will play a key role in providing clients with strong analytical insight and advice.
What you will do
- Work closely with clients to understand their needs and design solutions backed by sector knowledge and strong financial and economic modelling capability.
- Help generate new business by building market relationships and applying effective business development practices.
- Communicate strategic findings clearly to show client value and surface opportunities to broaden the engagement.
- Lead project teams and guide them toward successful delivery.
- Take ownership of projects through the full delivery lifecycle, ensuring quality standards are met and deadlines are achieved.
- Support the growth of junior colleagues by mentoring, coaching, and sharing practical experience.
What we are looking for
The firm is open on the exact background and profile, but the ideal candidate will bring strong experience in finance, economics, strategy, or a commercially focused environment. Experience may come from professional services or an in-house setting.
Preferred qualifications and strengths include a degree in finance, economics, or a closely related discipline, with postgraduate study considered helpful but not mandatory. You should also be able to carry out detailed policy, regulatory, economic, market, and strategic analysis.
