Job description
Position Overview
The part-time Staff Accountant will oversee the complete accounts payable cycle for Fenway Sports Group's corporate entities. This includes managing vendor invoice processing, expense reimbursements, and timely payments while ensuring accuracy and compliance. Additionally, the role supports key accounting operations such as recording cash transactions in the general ledger to assist with month-end closing. The position collaborates closely with the corporate Finance & Accounting team and supports accounts payable and receivable functions across Fenway Sports Group affiliates.
The position pays an hourly rate of $30.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately and promptly process vendor invoices, ensuring correct general ledger coding and obtaining necessary approvals while following company policies.
- Match invoices with receiving documents and resolve any discrepancies with vendors and internal teams.
- Prepare weekly check runs and occasional wire transfers as required.
- Maintain vendor data records, manage W-9 collection, and ensure compliance with 1099 reporting.
- Address vendor inquiries and resolve any payment issues professionally and swiftly.
- Perform monthly reconciliation between the accounts payable subledger and the general ledger.
- Review employee expense reports to verify compliance with company policies.
- Create journal entries and conduct account reconciliations focused on cash accounts during the monthly close.
- Generate special reports and financial analyses as needed by Finance leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Between 1 and 3 years of experience in accounts payable and/or general accounting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with familiarity in ERP and accounts payable systems such as NetSuite and Esker preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail.
- Ability to juggle several tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintains integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
