Role overview
Exyte is recruiting a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to support pre-construction commercial control for mechanical works on data centre projects across Northern Europe.
About the Data Centers division
The Data Centers (DTC) division provides end-to-end data centre delivery, covering design through construction with a focus on dependable performance and efficient execution. The team has delivered a wide range of projects globally, including advanced intelligence facilities, hyperscale campuses, colocation sites and cloud-computing data centres, using both conventional and modular construction methods.
What you will do
- Build accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems such as HVAC and plumbing.
- Interpret drawings, specifications and tender packs to quantify scope and price work.
- Create cost plans and budgets for the mechanical package.
- Work with digital measurement and review tools such as Bluebeam, CostX and Revit to improve accuracy and productivity.
- Support procurement planning, including package splitting and early buying of long-lead and high-value items.
- Make sure all mechanical scope is fully captured and properly classified for tendering and purchasing.
- Send tender packages to subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assess, compare and negotiate subcontractor pricing for mechanical works.
- Recommend procurement approaches for mechanical trade packages.
- Review design information to identify value engineering opportunities and alternative specifications that improve project value.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant will have a diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying, or a closely related discipline, from a third-level education provider. A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience with a main contractor is required, preferably on data centre projects. Experience should include work on data centre client projects with a combined value of more than €500 million, along with a strong commercial background on building projects in this sector. Prior exposure to package negotiation is needed, and candidates should be comfortable using Word, Excel and Outlook. Strong verbal and written communication, analytical thinking, logical judgement, and the ability to work accurately with numbers are essential.
