Role Overview
The Executive Director of Operations is a senior leadership position responsible for managing and enhancing the organization's daily operational activities. This role ensures operational efficiency, productivity, profitability, and supports long-term company growth by creating strategies, overseeing teams, and aligning processes with strategic goals.
Key Duties
- Oversee and lead daily business operations across various departments and units.
- Formulate and execute operational strategies, policies, and procedures to meet company objectives.
- Identify ways to improve operational efficiency, productivity, and control costs effectively.
- Track and analyze key performance indicators to ensure targets are met.
- Partner with executive leaders to drive strategic business initiatives.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation to enhance performance.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry regulations, and quality standards.
- Recognize operational risks and devise plans to mitigate them to maintain continuity.
- Lead organizational change and process improvement efforts.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams for smooth execution of operations.
- Oversee workforce planning, staff development, and performance management within operational teams.
- Assess and deploy technology solutions to boost operational effectiveness.
- Maintain robust relationships with clients, vendors, partners, and stakeholders.
- Prepare operational reports and deliver performance updates to leadership and the board.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Finance, Engineering, or related disciplines; MBA is preferable.
- At least 15 years of progressive experience in operations management including senior leadership roles.
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale operations and managing diverse teams.
- In-depth knowledge of business operations, process improvement, and organizational growth.
- Experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and managing performance metrics.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Expertise
- Experience in strategic planning and organizational transformation initiatives.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, or similar operational excellence frameworks.
- Strong project and change management skills.
- Experience with enterprise resource planning systems and automating business processes.
- Capability to inspire and lead diverse teams across locations.
