Equity Research Associate/Vice President – Industrials, Materials & Resources

Job Overview

Join a top-tier Equity Research team renowned for delivering alpha-generating insights across global markets, specializing in sectors like Industrials, Materials, Energy, and Natural Resources. This role in Singapore focuses on supporting research related to companies listed on the Singapore Exchange (SGX), particularly within Industrials, Materials, and Natural Resources sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive research on SGX-listed firms in the targeted sectors.
• Develop sector-specific insights encompassing commodity cycle analysis, supply chain dynamics, and relevant macroeconomic factors.
• Contribute to various research reports such as earnings previews, initiation papers, thematic deep-dives, and sector notes tailored to these industries.
• Maintain an understanding of regional factors including ASEAN trade flows and cross-border activities involving the SGX.
• Create, update, and refine detailed financial models and conduct valuations using methodologies like discounted cash flow (DCF), comparables, sum-of-the-parts, and net asset value (NAV) analyses.
• Establish and manage frameworks for relative value assessment and sector comparisons.
• Engage with institutional clients by responding to inquiries, participating in meetings, roadshows, conferences, and investor calls.
• Organize management meetings, field visits, and site tours to enhance client relations and research accuracy.
• Produce clear, well-written research outputs that communicate investment theses and actionable recommendations effectively.
• Collaborate with analysts, sales, and trading teams to deliver unique perspectives and insights.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards, uphold ethical practices, and proactively communicate risks.

Required Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline; CFA progress or charterholder is an advantage.
• Between 3 and 8 years of relevant experience in equity research, investment banking, asset management, or similar sectors.
• Familiarity with SGX-listed companies and Singapore’s capital markets; industry experience in Industrials, Materials, or Resources is preferred.
• Strong skills in financial modeling, accounting principles, and valuation techniques.
• Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Bloomberg, FactSet, or comparable platforms.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of translating complex financial and sector data into accessible insights.
• Highly organized and detail-focused with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• A strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and a collaborative spirit.
• Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of Mandarin is advantageous due to regional interaction.
