Overview

Jefferies is looking for an Investment Banking Associate to join its Aerospace, Defense & Government (AD&G) team based in Charlotte, NC. This role involves executing mergers and acquisitions (M&A), strategic advisory, equity and debt financing deals for clients both domestically and internationally within the aerospace, defense, government services, and related industrial sectors. The position offers considerable opportunities for client interaction and collaboration with senior bankers and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead buy-side and sell-side M&A engagements, capital raising, and strategic advisory mandates.
  • Develop and audit advanced financial models such as Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), Comparable Company Analysis, Precedent Transaction Analysis, Leveraged Buyout (LBO) models, and Merger and Accretion/Dilution models.
  • Conduct valuations, financing assessments, and strategic analyses to support client transactions.
  • Create client-facing documents including presentations, pitch books, confidential information memoranda (CIMs), management presentations, and offering memoranda.
  • Perform thorough industry, market, and company-specific research focused on the Aerospace, Defense & Government sector.
  • Participate actively in due diligence and coordinate workflows between internal teams and external partners.
  • Supervise and guide analysts ensuring accuracy and quality of deliverables.
  • Build and sustain client relationships throughout transaction execution and business development efforts.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across equity capital markets, debt capital markets, leveraged finance, restructuring, and sector coverage teams.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in investment banking, corporate finance, transaction advisory, or possession of an advanced degree.
  • Strong capabilities in financial modeling and valuation methodologies.
  • Proven experience managing M&A and/or capital markets transactions.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capacity to manage multiple high-priority projects in fast-paced environments while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience within Aerospace, Defense, Government Services, Industrials, or similar sectors preferred.
  • Possession or readiness to quickly acquire FINRA Series 79 and 63 licenses.
  • Advanced qualifications such as an MBA or finance-related certifications are advantageous.
