Concorde Education invites applications from enthusiastic and knowledgeable English Language Arts tutors interested in providing after-school instructional support at partner schools and community venues around Gardena, CA. Assignments typically involve teaching reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and literacy skills to bolster student confidence and academic performance.

Assignment Details

Instruction occurs on-site at various partner locations, with schedules generally ranging from 1 to 4 hours weekly, mostly after regular school hours. Each engagement lasts about 8 to 10 weeks, with start dates depending on the school partners' calendars. Compensation starts at $50 per instructional hour, with pay rates dependent on factors such as assignment complexity, instructor credentials, location, and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, grade-appropriate tutoring sessions for individual learners or small groups.
• Implement structured lessons adhering to provided curriculum or tailored learning objectives.
• Adjust instructional methods to suit diverse student abilities and learning preferences.
• Create a positive and inclusive environment that fosters academic growth and student confidence.
• Monitor student progress through observation and informal assessments.
• Coordinate professionally with school staff and Concorde representatives regarding attendance and program requirements.
• Comply with all school policies, safety measures, and emergency procedures.
• Be punctual and prepared for all scheduled teaching sessions.

Qualifications

• Completion of at least 60 college credits or equivalent relevant educational or teaching experience as appropriate for specific assignments.
• Strong proficiency in English language arts suitable for the targeted grade levels.
• Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or supporting school-age children.
• Excellent communication, instructional delivery, and classroom management skills.
• Dependable, professional attitude with strong organizational skills.
