Role Overview
We invite motivated and skilled individuals to express interest in joining our Emergency Services Officer (ESO) Talent Community. ESO positions are critical within our Emergency Response Team at Pilbara mine sites, emphasizing safety, teamwork, and emergency preparedness. This role provides an engaging environment where you will respond to emergencies and support daily emergency and medical operations.
Work Details
- FIFO opportunities available from locations including Perth, Busselton, Karratha, Port Hedland, Fitzroy Crossing, or Kununurra to Pilbara mine sites.
- Work schedule follows an 8 days on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 days off roster pattern.
Key Responsibilities
- React promptly and effectively to any emergency incidents onsite as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
- Ensure emergency response equipment is maintained and inspections and reporting are completed per compliance requirements.
- Conduct fitness-for-work assessments aligned with site and corporate Alcohol & Other Drugs policies.
- Organize and take part in emergency response drills and training activities.
- Deliver onsite medical assistance and uphold medical facilities readiness.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to Emergency Response Team members and other site staff.
- Maintain the physical fitness levels required for safe role execution.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Experience working operationally in a mine site ESO team or within State Emergency/Fire Services.
- Proven skills in emergency response coordination, incident management, and emergency protocols.
- Volunteer experience with organisations like VFRS, Bush Fire Services, or St John is advantageous.
- Certification in Emergency Response and Rescue or Public Safety (Fire Fighting) including Vertical and Confined Space Rescue modules is mandatory.
- Advanced qualifications such as Cert IV, Diploma, or Bachelor’s in Health Care are desirable.
- Certified in specimen collection for drugs of abuse testing or equivalent qualification.
- Competence in core emergency response skills such as Rope Rescue, Road Crash Rescue, Firefighting, Confined Space Rescue, Open Circuit BA, and Hazmat handling.
- Eligibility to register under Fortescue’s Poison Permit requirements.
- Possession of a current HR driver's licence (minimum HR-B).
