Job Overview
Join the Mittera team as an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator where dedication is valued and work is rewarding. The coordinator ensures compliance with OSHA, DNR, DOT, EPA, and Air Quality Division regulations, fostering a safe and compliant workplace culture by collaborating with management and staff.
Scope
Manage multiple environmental, health, and safety programs and performance metrics across the site. Develop training and engagement initiatives promoting safety, sustainability, and regulatory compliance. Represent site leadership professionally in all employee and regulatory interactions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Act as the primary site representative for all EHS-related activities.
- Lead efforts to reduce workplace injuries, promoting a "Zero Injury Culture."
- Oversee all regulatory and site-specific EHS training programs.
- Conduct and lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementations.
- Evaluate new equipment for operator safety and suggest necessary safety controls.
- Implement strategies to minimize environmental impacts at the site.
- Develop and facilitate safety and environmental training programs throughout the site.
- Manage the site safety committee and coordinate safety meetings.
- Lead internal audits, inspections, and site safety assessments.
- Oversee Emergency Response Team training, responsibilities, and performance standards.
- Demonstrate proficiency in crisis management scenarios.
- Handle all OSHA communications and compliance activities at the site.
- Assess work activities and implement risk mitigation measures related to EHS.
- Manage complex technical assignments independently.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, giving and receiving feedback constructively.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and immediately report unsafe conditions to supervisors.
- Ensure corrective actions are followed through.
- Provide assistance with environmental permit processes.
- Conduct inspections for new equipment or process acceptance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Proficiency in computer software including Excel, PowerPoint, ERP systems, and safety management software.
- Strong verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and analytical problem-solving abilities.
- At least three years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Minimum three years of hands-on experience in an EHS role.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable legal health and safety requirements.
- Experience in report preparation and policy development pertinent to EHS.
- Competent in data analysis and risk assessment methodologies.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Half of work time involves standing or walking; the other half is office-based.
- Consistent interaction with employees, peers, and management.
- Occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds is required.
- Ability to walk several miles daily during work activities.
- Requires local and domestic travel approximately 20% of the time.
