Role Overview
The Emergency Room (ER) Registrar manages patient intake and registration tasks within the Emergency Department, ensuring precise documentation, insurance validation, and maintaining patient confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Warmly welcome patients and compassionately collect their personal, insurance, and medical information.
- Obtain required signatures and informed consents from patients.
- Confirm insurance eligibility and coverage details, including collecting co-payments.
- Alert clinical staff about patient arrivals to facilitate prompt care delivery.
- Assist in maintaining smooth department workflows and efficient emergency communication.
- Ensure accurate patient identification through armband application and thorough documentation for billing and medical records.
Qualifications & Skills
- Preferred post-secondary education in healthcare administration or a related field.
- Experience ranging from entry level up to two years in healthcare environments or customer service roles.
- Excellent communication and customer service capabilities paired with meticulous attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, insurance verification procedures, and medical terminology.
- Capability to manage confidential information responsibly and maintain composure in stressful situations.
