Job description
Position Overview
White Bear Lake Area Schools, ISD #624, is inviting applications for a passionate Elementary Art Teacher at Matoska International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in St Paul, MN. This is a part-time role at .5 full-time equivalent (FTE) scheduled to start August 2026 for the 2026-2027 academic year. The position encourages students in grades K-5 to engage in visual arts, fostering creativity, inquiry, and self-expression. Opportunities to increase the FTE are possible depending on qualifications and interest.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct visual arts lessons that promote creativity, exploration, and the development of skills using various mediums and techniques.
- Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom where students feel safe taking creative risks and expressing themselves.
- Incorporate the IB philosophy through inquiry-based learning and supporting cross-disciplinary connections.
- Teach artistic concepts, skills, and vocabulary aligned with district and state educational standards.
- Adapt teaching methods to support diverse learners and enable individual artistic growth.
- Collaborate with staff to enhance interdisciplinary learning and align with the IB framework.
- Organize displays, exhibitions, and community events to highlight students' artwork.
- Engage in professional development and actively contribute to building a collaborative school culture.
Qualifications
- Possession of a valid Minnesota Teaching License in Art Education or ability to obtain one.
- Comprehensive knowledge of art techniques, media, and art history.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and relationship-building abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching at the elementary grade levels.
- Familiarity with International Baccalaureate (IB), inquiry-based learning, or concept-driven teaching philosophies.

Additional Information
