Education Officer (Biosphere)

Role Overview

The Education Officer (Biosphere) will be tasked with developing and executing an Education and Outreach Strategy along with an Education and Awareness Programme aimed at highlighting the importance of the Dublin Bay Biosphere.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement educational and outreach initiatives centered on the Dublin Bay Biosphere.
• Communicate complex scientific, legislative, policy, and planning information underpinning the Biosphere to a wide variety of audience groups effectively.
• Collaborate as an integral member of the Heritage and Biodiversity team within Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.
• Engage and liaise with staff from Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, Dublin City, and Fingal County Councils, as well as with local communities, schools, groups, and the general public throughout the Dublin Bay Biosphere area.
• Travel regularly across sites within the three counties to participate in meetings, events, projects, and community engagement activities.

Required Profile

• Strong technical grasp of the scientific principles, legislation, policies, and planning frameworks relevant to the Biosphere concept.
• Proven ability to translate specialized environmental knowledge into clear messaging suited to diverse audiences.
• Experience working within heritage, biodiversity, environmental education, or related sectors preferably in collaborative and multi-stakeholder settings.

Additional Information

This position requires frequent on-site work across multiple locations within the Dublin Bay Biosphere area, encompassing the three local authority jurisdictions involved. The Education Officer will be actively engaged in various community-centered and governmental outreach functions.
