Role Purpose
The Education Counselor will guide international students in identifying the academic paths best suited to their educational and career objectives. This includes advising on study options, navigating admission and visa procedures, assisting with application processes, and promoting IDP's offerings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored counseling to prospective students to determine appropriate courses and institutions.
- Arrange and conduct meetings and phone consultations delivering accurate program details while addressing individual student needs, including admissions criteria and qualification pathways.
- Help students shortlist suitable applications to optimize counseling efficiency.
- Support students throughout admission, visa, and pre-departure milestones.
- Establish and maintain strong, trustworthy relationships with students and families, positioning IDP as a reputable service provider.
- Uphold integrity and ethical standards in all engagements with stakeholders.
- Consistently deliver superior service leading to high conversion of students advancing through recruitment stages and securing offers.
- Discover and exploit business development opportunities by connecting with schools, universities, companies, and scholarship organizations, nurturing these relationships.
- Utilize CRM tools to comprehensively document and follow-up on leads and counseling stages to secure enrollments.
- Maintain ongoing contact and activities with key accounts including schools and scholarship bodies.
- Address inquiries promptly through multiple communication channels, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
- Prepare and submit applications, obtain admission letters, and facilitate enrolments efficiently.
- Foster effective collaborations with educational institutions for timely application processing.
- Provide on-arrival support or referrals as needed.
- Collaborate with network counselors to enhance student support onshore.
- Participate in client briefings, workshops, and site visits to expand institutional knowledge and strengthen partnerships.
- Join with business and operations managers to formulate and implement promotional strategies.
- Engage in organizing key marketing events such as interviews, exhibitions, and seminars.
- Contribute to marketing initiatives aimed at boosting student recruitment.
- Identify local market opportunities and threats.
- Engage actively in team meetings promoting knowledge sharing.
- Seek and implement synergies between IDP’s student placement and IELTS operations to improve efficiency.
- Maintain proactive follow-up with students and institutions ensuring enrolment processes are completed.
- Leverage diverse communication channels including email, phone, CRM features such as SMS and task reminders.
- Present pertinent information competently to students, clients, and stakeholders.
- Report regularly to supervisor regarding progress, challenges, and assistance required.
Prerequisites
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent academic qualification.
- Fluent English communication skills.
- Experience in sales-driven roles with a focus on meeting individual/team targets.
- Familiarity with educational institutions, admission protocols, immigration policies, and international education operations.
- Strong communication aptitude to interact effectively with students, parents, institutions, and colleagues.
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Passion for customer service excellence.
- Strong relationship-building and management capabilities.
- Team-oriented with a positive contribution toward collective success.
- Proactive problem identification, analysis, and resolution skills.
- Sound decision-making and integrity in representing IDP's interests.

- Previous experience in education counseling preferred.
- Work or academic experience in relevant destination countries advantageous.
