Role summary
This position is for a District Manager in Oncology (Solid Tumor) based in Lucknow. The role sits within the Sales function and reports to the Zonal Business Manager for Solid Tumors and the ZBM North. The incumbent will be accountable for expanding business in the assigned territory, building strong customer relationships, understanding territory potential, communicating the science behind the brands, and working closely with healthcare practitioners.
Key responsibilities
- Assess the territory by studying market trends, referral bottlenecks, competitor actions, and unmet needs from the patient and caregiver point of view.
- Identify, evaluate, and prioritize doctors based on business needs, and support the creation of stakeholder maps involving HCPs, patient advocacy groups, and other local influencers.
- Help shape a strong launch plan together with the line manager and marketing team.
- Spot opportunities that can improve access in reimbursed market segments.
- Develop long-term, productive relationships with key opinion leaders and other important business leaders in the territory.
- Engage these stakeholders regularly through scientific interactions to build awareness and support for the brand.
- Plan and run scientific programs such as continuous medical education activities in coordination with the medical affairs team.
- Support marketing initiatives that influence disease understanding and treatment beliefs.
- Deliver territory sales growth and achieve budgeted sales targets while following company policies and supervisory direction.
- Review monthly territory performance and plan for sales achievement with guidance from the line manager.
- Work with the line manager to define and execute HCP engagement expectations across reach, call frequency, call effectiveness, brand availability, access, and stakeholder insights.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure smooth execution of plans.
- Use technology tools to improve field productivity and execution.
Qualifications and experience
A B.Pharma or B.Sc degree is required. An MBA will be preferred. The candidate should have at least 2 years of experience. Experience in oncology or a similar specialty area is preferred.
Preferred background
Exposure to the lung cancer market will be an added advantage. Knowledge of business processes and procurement processes will also be useful.
