Director/VP of People at Pre-IPO AI Technology Company

About the Role

We are seeking a Director or VP of People to lead and transform the HR Business Partner function into a strategic contributor across various departments such as Product, Engineering, Go-To-Market, and Operations. You will work closely with executives, managers, and employees to execute organizational design and workforce planning that supports rapid company growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the evolution of the HR Business Partner role into a core strategic partner for the business.
• Establish strong collaborative relationships with leadership across multiple teams including Product, Engineering, GTM, and Operations.
• Collaborate with talent leadership to develop long-term talent strategies and workforce planning initiatives.
• Provide expert guidance and advice to executives, managers, and employees on HR and organizational matters.
• Lead organizational design efforts linked to the company’s growth ambitions.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience within high-growth, hyper-scale companies, ideally spanning pre-IPO to post-IPO phases.
• A proactive 'builder' mindset with the ability to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced, and sometimes chaotic environments.
• Demonstrated success in creating and leading People/HR functions and teams.
• Open to candidates with diverse professional backgrounds interested in people strategy, including legal or finance professionals seeking to transition into HR roles.
• Prior exposure to pre-IPO AI or technology companies is highly preferred.
• Location flexibility between New York City and San Francisco required.
