About the Role

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join an established General Contractor and Construction Manager specializing in commercial interiors projects across New York City. The candidate must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder. This role involves oversight and management of various facets of interior construction projects on a commercial scale, ensuring compliance, coordination, and successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review project documentation to confirm design completeness and adherence to local building codes, securing clarifications from the design team as required.
  • Engage in comprehensive management activities covering preliminary design, development, engineering, contract administration, procurement, construction monitoring, financial requisitions, punch list completion, and final close-out processes.
  • Assist in preparing project budgets, managing expenditures, and reporting to senior management.
  • Coordinate subcontractor bids and awards through leveling processes.
  • Monitor the project’s schedule and budget to ensure timely completion.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures aimed at reducing maintenance and subcontractor labor expenses.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors and project owners.
  • Plan, document, and oversee project delivery through all phases including close-out.
  • Ensure acquisition of all necessary permits and licenses prior to commencement of work.
  • Conduct evaluations after project completion to assess successes and identify areas for improvement.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in commercial interiors construction.
  • Proficient knowledge of construction processes, building codes, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and safety standards.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Capable of commuting to multiple job sites within New York City.
