About the Role

This position offers an exciting chance to join a new statutory authority responsible for safeguarding integrity in pharmacy business ownership across Queensland. Candidates will work within a small, innovative team that values collaboration and flexibility, contributing to the establishment of a modern regulatory body to ensure professional, safe and competent pharmacy service delivery to the Queensland community.

Organisation Overview

The Council, established under the Pharmacy Business Ownership Act 2024, regulates a contemporary licensing system governing over 1,300 pharmacy businesses. Its mission is to ensure the provision of safe, professional, and competent pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities

• Form and nurture strategic partnerships with government and non-government entities to bolster Council operations.
• Design and execute comprehensive communications and stakeholder engagement strategies grounded in best practice methodologies.
• Provide executive support to the Council Chair and CEO by managing meeting agendas, delivering policy, governance, and integrity guidance, and supervising secretariat responsibilities.
• Implement and maintain conflict of interest protocols, collaborating with the Office of the Integrity Commissioner as needed.
• Offer expert interpretation and counsel on statutory and administrative compliance; formulate relevant policies and procedures.
• Lead the compilation of the Council’s annual report, strategic and operational planning documents, and other critical policy materials.
• Administer the risk management framework to identify and mitigate risks in accordance with legislative requirements.

Candidate Profile

• Demonstrable leadership experience in complex regulatory organisations.
• Advanced knowledge of governance, risk management, and strategic planning.
• Sound judgment combined with resilience and an ability to prioritize competing demands to achieve long-term objectives.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities to engage diverse stakeholders including senior government and industry representatives.
• Proven expertise in delivering high-level strategic advice relating to policy, governance, and stakeholder relations.
• Flexible mindset and solution-oriented approach to excel in dynamic settings and build collaborative networks.
• Possession of relevant qualifications such as communications or strategic planning is desirable but not mandatory.
