Overview

Western Cape College's Weipa Secondary Campus is searching for a dedicated and passionate Industry and Vocational Training Officer to join the secondary student services team. This position plays a vital leadership role in directing the school-based apprenticeship and traineeship program across Western Cape College.

Western Cape College operates across campuses in Mapoon (P-6) and Weipa (P-12), including a secondary residential facility in Weipa. Role Responsibilities

  • Develop and nurture partnerships with industry and business sectors to secure apprenticeships, traineeships, and work experience placements for students.
  • Advocate for vocational education pathways such as TAFE training as viable career options for students.
  • Oversee the management and compliance of the work experience placement program according to departmental policies.
  • Assist in recruiting and enrolling students into vocational pathways and work readiness initiatives.
  • Organize events, create promotional content, and ensure current awareness of applicable legislation and policies governing the vocational programs.

  • Demonstrated skill in engaging effectively with industry and business partners to expand opportunities for secondary students.
  • Strong capability in establishing and sustaining productive business and industry networks.
  • Proficiency in interpreting, applying, and understanding vocational legislation and policies.
  • Ability to strategically engage with stakeholders on complex matters related to vocational education.
