Role Overview

Join NZ Post as a Legal Compliance Lead to spearhead enterprise-wide compliance efforts within a nationally important organization. You'll provide clear, actionable insights on compliance and risk to leadership, influencing the company at the highest level. This is a strategic position with direct ties to senior leadership and Board committees, offering extensive exposure and impact across NZ Post's multi-entity operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously enhance NZ Post's second line legal compliance framework.
  • Monitor applicable legal requirements relevant to NZ Post's diverse business operations.
  • Ensure policies and processes align with all current legal obligations and organizational expectations.
  • Engage with business unit leaders to foster their understanding and accountability regarding compliance responsibilities.
  • Provide training and guidance to elevate legal compliance knowledge and capabilities across teams.
  • Serve as a trusted legal compliance advisor to various stakeholders within the organization.
  • Support the identification, assessment, and documentation of legal compliance risks.
  • Deliver independent second line oversight of legal compliance risk management and audits as necessary.
  • Prepare clear and actionable compliance reports and insights for senior leadership and the Board Risk Committee.
  • Evaluate and challenge the efficacy of risk identification and control mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with second line risk colleagues to offer unified assurance perspectives.

About You

You are a seasoned legal compliance or legal professional with 8 or more years of experience, ideally including roles focused on legal compliance or closely related areas. Your expertise includes strong knowledge of New Zealand legal frameworks such as the Privacy Act, Fair Trading Act, and Commerce Act. You take a pragmatic and commercially aware approach—balancing legal requirements with practical business considerations. Your communication skills are excellent, enabling you to convert complex legal and risk concepts into easily understood actions. You confidently interact and influence at all organizational levels, including senior leadership.
