Job description
About the Hospital
Eastern General Hospital (EGH) is being developed as a new healthcare institution that will deliver a broad mix of inpatient and outpatient specialties and services, including emergency, acute, and secondary care. The hospital is being designed around digital-first, patient-centred care, with a focus on using modern technology to improve treatment experiences and support healthier lives for patients and the surrounding community.
Role Overview
EGH is looking for an accomplished operations leader to take on the role of Director, Operations. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this position provides senior-level direction and day-to-day oversight for the planning and commissioning of hospital support operations, smart facilities management, project and infrastructure planning, and sustainability initiatives.
The role will shape and implement operational strategies, service delivery frameworks, and readiness roadmaps that support the hospital’s development and eventual opening. A key part of the job is ensuring that operational, infrastructural, and support-service needs are built into the wider hospital development programme in a way that aligns with organisational priorities and national healthcare goals.
You will also collaborate closely with the Ministry of Health, MOHH, SingHealth institutions, project consultants, and other important stakeholders to advance operational readiness, workforce planning, commissioning activities, and service development work.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is required; a postgraduate qualification in Healthcare Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related area is preferred.
- You should bring at least 16 years of relevant experience, ideally in healthcare operations, hospital planning, operational readiness, or large-scale transformation work, including a minimum of 10 years in a senior leadership or management role.
- Strong working knowledge of healthcare operations, service planning, organisational development, and project management is necessary.
- Proven experience handling complex initiatives and engaging senior stakeholders across different organisations is important.
- Background in hospital development, commissioning, or operational readiness will be considered an advantage.
- You need to be a strategic thinker with strong capabilities in leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making.
- The ideal candidate is collaborative, able to build effective partnerships, encourage teamwork, and influence varied stakeholders toward shared objectives.
- You should be results-driven, resilient, and comfortable adapting to change.
Additional Information
This role supports the development and opening of a major hospital project and requires coordination across operational, infrastructural, and support-service planning areas. The work involves partnership with public healthcare and project stakeholders and contributes to organisational goals as well as broader national healthcare priorities.
