Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Laboratory Information System Officer to join the team at Eastern General Hospital. This role involves managing and supporting IT systems within the Department of Laboratory Medicine to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient services through efficient clinical informatics.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Department and Laboratory Manager in overseeing IT-related functions in the laboratory.
- Lead coordination efforts with various stakeholders for the implementation, setup, and testing of the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and associated systems.
- Provide both administrative and technical assistance for the operation, upkeep, and management of the LIS and related laboratory IT systems.
- Develop and update standard operating procedures concerning the functioning and downtime of laboratory IT infrastructure.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues reported by laboratory personnel by collaborating with relevant parties.
- Ensure compliance of medical devices, workflows, and procedures with applicable regulatory standards.
- Act as the primary contact for all IT-related concerns, including cybersecurity and data privacy, coordinating with internal departments and external vendors.
- Collaborate with other LIS officers on shared systems and cross-institutional projects.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess a degree in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Medical Technology, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline.
- Professional experience working with IT systems in the healthcare sector is mandatory; prior exposure to NGEMR and Laboratory Information Systems is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
