Role Overview
The organization is seeking a Director of Project Management Excellence to work full time in a remote capacity. This senior leadership position entails establishing and championing advanced project and program management practices across the company. Key responsibilities include overseeing complex, cross-departmental initiatives to guarantee they are clearly scoped, adequately resourced, and delivered on schedule and within budget constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine project management methodologies and standardized processes.
- Coach and guide project teams on tools, templates, and governance models to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
- Prioritize programs and review project plans alongside performance metrics regularly.
- Manage risks and resolve issues throughout project lifecycles.
- Coordinate with senior leadership to align project objectives with broader strategic business goals.
- Mentor project managers to enhance their capabilities and promote a culture focused on accountability and results, especially within a remote working setup.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within project management practices.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Extensive experience (minimum 8 years) leading complex project and program management initiatives, ideally within insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries.
- Strong proficiency in budgeting and financial oversight related to project costs, forecasts, and return on investment.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including coaching, stakeholder engagement, and facilitation of cross-functional collaboration in remote environments.
- Expertise in process improvement, designing standardized workflows, governance frameworks, and performance evaluation metrics.
- Advanced understanding of project management methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, hybrid frameworks, and usage of project management software tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, management, engineering, or a related discipline required; advanced degrees or certifications like PMP, PgMP, Lean, or Six Sigma highly preferred.
- Outstanding analytical, communication, and decision-making capabilities with the aptitude to influence senior executives and lead organizational change effectively.
