Job description
About LOVB
League One Volleyball (LOVB) is a mission-focused sports, training, and media company founded in 2019 with the goal of reshaping women’s sports and advancing the future of volleyball in the United States. The company is building around the sport’s large and growing audience, strong female participation, and deep community potential.
LOVB is developing a club-led business, a professional league, and a connected digital environment that brings together participation, fandom, commerce, content, and community. The organization is looking for a hands-on product leader who can help build the digital foundation that connects athletes, parents, coaches, clubs, fans, and professional teams.
Role Overview
This position owns the strategy, roadmap, and execution for LOVB’s digital platform. The goal is to evolve LOVB.com from a content destination into a connected digital ecosystem that supports participation, engagement, loyalty, commerce, and fandom across volleyball.
You will work closely with the CTO, engineering, design partners, business teams, and executive leadership to decide what gets built, why it matters, how it will function, and how success will be measured. The role is individual-contributor level, with no direct reports, and includes occasional travel for site visits and business-related events. It is a full-time, salaried, exempt role based remotely in the United States.
What You Will Own
You will shape product direction across several connected areas of the volleyball ecosystem, including professional volleyball, youth and club volleyball, community participation, discovery, marketplace access, and shared platform capabilities.
- For professional volleyball, you will guide fan-facing experiences such as team and player pages, schedules, standings, statistics, highlights, content, ticketing flows, merchandise, fantasy features, loyalty, and community engagement.
- For participation and community, you will support products that make it easier for people to get involved in volleyball through programs such as Volley in the Park, adult participation, grassroots initiatives, and local events.
- For youth and club volleyball, you will help design digital journeys for athletes, parents, coaches, and clubs, including camps, clinics, tournaments, athlete profiles, recruiting, rankings, parent communication, and coaching education.
- For discovery and access, you will define pathways that help users find camps, clinics, tournaments, leagues, facilities, courts, coaches, clubs, recruiting options, merchandise, tickets, and related services.
- For platform capabilities, you will oversee shared features such as account creation, identity, profiles, preferences, personalization, loyalty, notifications, content, commerce, payments, community tools, and analytics.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and evolve the product vision for LOVB’s digital platform.
- Build a roadmap that supports ecosystem growth as well as the commercial objectives of LOVB Pro.
- Turn opportunities across pro volleyball, youth volleyball, community activity, events, commerce, content, and fandom into clear product direction.
- Lead discovery sessions with athletes, parents, coaches, fans, clubs, teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Write product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, success measures, and rollout plans.
- Prioritize initiatives based on user value, business impact, technical complexity, and strategic relevance.
- Work side by side with engineering and design to assess effort, validate ideas, and deliver strong product experiences.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Pro, Youth, Revenue, Partnerships, Clubs, Operations, and executive teams to keep product work aligned with business priorities.
- Use data to assess performance and improve adoption, engagement, retention, and conversion.
- Maintain visibility into roadmap status, delivery progress, product outcomes, and trade-offs.
Success Measures
In the first year, success means having a clear platform strategy and roadmap, shipping improvements that raise engagement and strengthen the member experience, and supporting growth for LOVB Pro. It also means building clearer measurement for account growth, active usage, engagement, retention, loyalty, and conversion, while helping transform LOVB.com into a connected ecosystem rather than a standalone content site.
Over the longer term, the platform should become the digital home for volleyball: a place where people participate, follow the game, connect with the community, and engage with LOVB Pro throughout their journey.
Required Experience
- At least 10 years of experience in product management.
- Background building and scaling consumer-facing digital products or platforms.
- Direct ownership of product strategy, roadmapping, discovery, prioritization, and delivery.
- Hands-on experience working with engineering and design teams.
- Strong understanding of product growth, engagement, retention, and customer experience.
- Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Strong analytical ability and comfort using data to guide decisions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to simplify complex ideas into clear product direction.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where structure is still evolving.
Preferred Background
- Experience in sports, media, consumer technology, community platforms, loyalty, membership, or commerce.
- Experience building products that serve multiple user groups.
- Exposure to fan engagement, youth sports, athlete development, coaching, or community participation.
- Experience with personalization, loyalty, content, ticketing, ecommerce, or digital membership products.
- History of taking products from early concept through launch and scale.
Who You Are
- You think in systems and ecosystems, not only in features.
- You are motivated by user needs and can convert them into practical products.
- You can move from strategy to execution without sacrificing quality.
- You are comfortable making trade-offs and explaining them clearly.
- You can partner effectively with executives, engineers, designers, marketers, operators, and outside partners.
- You enjoy building from the ground up.
- You believe strong products create habits, relationships, and communities.
Why This Role Matters
Volleyball is one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing sports, with millions of athletes, parents, coaches, clubs, fans, and professional teams contributing to its momentum. LOVB is bringing that audience together through a connected digital ecosystem designed to support participation, engagement, fandom, and lifelong involvement in the sport.
This role is central to defining how people discover volleyball, engage with the community, follow the sport, build relationships, and connect with LOVB at every stage of their journey. The work will help deepen participation, grow fandom, and shape the future of volleyball in a meaningful way.
