Role overview
A global, market-leading FMCG business in Frankfurt is hiring a Director of Procurement to lead a team of four and oversee procurement activity for Germany and Austria. The role covers around €50 million in spend across direct and indirect materials, with a strong focus on improving commercial value, supporting growth, and executing supply chain priorities.
Compensation and working setup
- Base pay of up to €120,000 per year
- Annual bonus potential of 20% to 30%
- Company car or car allowance included
- Role based in Frankfurt, Germany
- Hybrid arrangement: 3 days on site and 2 days working from home
Key responsibilities
The position is responsible for steering procurement strategy and supplier performance across both direct and indirect categories. It includes shaping category plans, improving commercial outcomes, and partnering with internal stakeholders to support pricing, margin, and revenue objectives. The role also involves strengthening team capability and enabling long-term succession planning.
Responsibilities
- Set the overall procurement direction for direct and indirect spend across the region.
- Build and implement category strategies that support margin improvement and changing customer demand.
- Lead supplier negotiations to achieve strong commercial terms, agreements, and income opportunities.
- Contribute to sustained gross margin growth in line with the organisation’s four-year plan.
- Improve total supplier value through rebates, promotional support, and marketing contributions.
- Work closely with commercial teams on pricing decisions and revenue management initiatives.
- Support digital and data-driven transformation by embedding advanced capabilities.
- Develop talent, strengthen succession planning, and build future leadership depth within the team.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of procurement experience.
- Background in FMCG, retail, logistics, or food and beverage.
- Hands-on experience managing both direct and indirect procurement categories.
- Prior leadership experience overseeing procurement teams.
- Experience working in a matrix-style organisation.
- Fluency in both English and German.
Preferred background
Candidates with experience in FMCG, retail, logistics, or food and beverage environments are especially well suited for this opportunity.
