Position Overview

The Director of Marketing & Events will lead and direct a dynamic events team while working closely with advertising sales and creative teams. This role demands a blend of strategic vision and strong execution capabilities. The individual will be accountable for managing a complex events calendar, budget oversight, and ensuring the company's presence at events aligns with its brand and growth objectives. This is a leadership role that balances strategy, hands-on event management, and broad marketing responsibilities, particularly in social media and content marketing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a strategic approach for the company's presence across all events related to advertising and venue sales.
  • Maintain and oversee a comprehensive events calendar including industry trade shows, summits, client dinners, product showcases, and other activations.
  • Integrate planning efforts between sales teams to ensure aligned and effective event participation.
  • Lead pre-event goal setting, stakeholder briefings, and establish measurable success criteria.
  • Explore new event presence opportunities, including sponsorships and hosted experiences to enhance brand visibility and engagement.
  • Guide and mentor the events team to promote high performance and clarity of processes.
  • Administer the events budget with transparency, including tracking expenditures and communicating variances.
  • Create detailed communication tools such as event briefs, run-of-show documents, and post-event reports to keep stakeholders well informed.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing and creative teams to produce event materials, booth design, and branded assets that reinforce brand identity.
  • Oversee the company's social media channels with an emphasis on event-related content, editorial planning, and audience growth.
  • Formulate content strategies to engage diverse audiences, including venue owners, advertisers, content creators, and viewers.
  • Partner with marketing colleagues on influencer and creator collaborations to elevate event impact.
  • Support broader marketing projects including campaign work, copy review, and brand-building initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Over 10 years of experience in marketing with significant expertise in planning and executing large-scale event programs.
  • Comprehensive marketing skills encompassing paid, owned, earned, and shared media channels.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with proficiency in communication and project management ensuring all details are addressed.
  • Strong fiscal management abilities related to budgeting and cost control in event contexts.
  • Effective cross-functional collaborator skilled at relationship-building within multi-team environments.
  • Proficiency in social media and content marketing with a keen understanding of brand growth techniques.
  • Experienced in developing teams and fostering a productive and supportive workplace culture.
  • Creative with a strong sense of branding, event design, and the ability to guide creative processes.
  • Comfortable and proactive in fast-paced, evolving situations with a bias for action.
  • Leadership style marked by respect, trust-building, and leading by example.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with media, advertising technology, connected TV, streaming, or place-based media sectors.
  • Knowledge of B2B marketing and event strategies serving multiple sales audiences.
  • Experience managing both large-scale trade shows and intimate client-focused events.
  • Background collaborating with creative teams for content and event asset development.
  • Familiarity with creating and deploying email newsletters, particularly using Hubspot.
