About the Role
Our client, a rapidly expanding retail organization operating across multiple states, is focused on exceptional customer service delivered by outstanding employees. To support ongoing growth, they are looking for a Director of Learning and Development to establish and lead a premier training function aimed at cultivating leadership, enhancing operational execution, and ensuring consistent customer experiences throughout all locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement a company-wide learning and development strategy aligned with business goals.
- Develop scalable onboarding programs tailored for retail associates, store and district managers, as well as corporate personnel.
- Create leadership development initiatives designed to ready high-potential employees for future leadership positions.
- Standardize operational training frameworks across all sites to elevate consistency, performance, and customer satisfaction.
- Design blended learning experiences incorporating instructor-led sessions, eLearning, virtual training, video content, and microlearning techniques.
- Collaborate with Operations, HR, and Executive Leadership to identify skill gaps and craft focused learning solutions.
- Develop career progression paths and succession programs that foster internal promotions and enhance employee retention.
- Establish metrics and dashboards for assessing training impact, operational outcomes, engagement, and ROI.
- Oversee and optimize the company's Learning Management System (LMS) and continuously refine training content and delivery.
- Lead and mentor field trainers and learning staff to build a high-performing L&D team.
- Conduct visits to various store locations to evaluate training effectiveness and bolster operational excellence.
- Promote a culture centered on continuous learning, accountability, and leadership growth.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in Learning and Development within multi-unit retail, restaurant, hospitality, fitness, grocery, healthcare, or consumer services sectors.
- Experience supporting operations spanning multiple states with over 100 locations is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in building leadership and operational training programs from inception.
- Strong background in instructional design guided by adult learning principles.
- Proven ability to implement and manage Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Track record of collaborating effectively with Operations leaders to boost execution through training.
- Exceptional skills in presentation, facilitation, coaching, and communication.
- Robust project management capabilities to handle several enterprise initiatives concurrently.
- Adeptness at thriving within fast-paced and rapidly evolving environments.
- Bachelor's degree is mandatory; a Master's degree is advantageous.
