Company Overview

Dexterra Group is a publicly traded, rapidly expanding organization with a strong financial foundation. Operating across North America, the company offers both full-time and part-time opportunities and is known for a workplace culture centered on stability, inclusion, teamwork, recognition, work-life balance, and meaningful work. With a heritage spanning more than 75 years, the businesses that now make up Dexterra Group have long supported North American clients in building and managing environments that are important to local communities and the wider economy.

The company’s guiding idea is simple: work that matters, delivered by people who care.

Role Summary

Dexterra Group is hiring a Director of IT Operations to lead a high-impact function at the junction of technology and operations. In this role, you will work closely with Operations leaders to improve service delivery, strengthen support for frontline teams, and turn IT into a scalable, growth-focused capability for the business.

This position is responsible for guiding the evolution of enterprise IT operations so that the organization can run more predictably, automate more effectively, and make better decisions from operational insight. While maintaining reliability, security, and performance, you will also support business expansion, acquisitions, systems standardization, and an improved employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct enterprise IT operations spanning infrastructure, cloud platforms, networks, and end-user computing.
  • Strengthen reliability, scalability, and performance through disciplined operational practices.
  • Introduce automation and AI-supported capabilities that improve monitoring and shorten time to resolution.
  • Develop strong working relationships with Operations leaders and ensure IT is aligned to frontline requirements.
  • Convert business priorities into practical, scalable technology solutions.
  • Position IT as a proactive partner that contributes to operational excellence and business growth.
  • Modernize operations through automation, self-service options, and standardized workflows.
  • Support growth with systems and operating models that can scale consistently.
  • Lead IT integration efforts for acquisitions, including onboarding, consolidation, and rationalization.
  • Manage service desk and end-user support with an emphasis on quality and responsiveness.
  • Improve service performance and the employee technology experience.
  • Reduce operational friction through automation and more efficient support approaches.
  • Work with cybersecurity teams to uphold security and privacy controls.
  • Support audit readiness and IT general controls in a public-company setting.
  • Embed risk-conscious practices into day-to-day IT operations.
  • Oversee key vendors to ensure accountability, performance, and value.
  • Handle procurement, asset lifecycle management, and cost optimization.
  • Lead the IT operations budget in alignment with business priorities and efficiency goals.
  • Manage and develop a distributed IT operations team.
  • Build a high-performance culture based on ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Align team structure, capacity, and priorities with evolving business needs.

Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in IT operations, infrastructure, and service delivery within a complex, multi-site environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with hybrid environments and cloud platforms; Azure is strongly preferred.
  • Strong background in IT service management, including ownership of KPIs, SLAs, and service performance.
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, and integration activities.
  • Proven capability in vendor management, contract negotiation, and cost control.
  • Good understanding of cybersecurity controls, compliance requirements, and audit readiness in a corporate or public-company environment.
  • Ability to build effective cross-functional partnerships and lead distributed teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline; an advanced degree is an advantage.
  • ITIL certification is preferred, while PMP, PRINCE2, and cloud or security certifications are considered assets.

What You Can Expect

  • Opportunity to contribute to an industry that plays an essential role in today’s economy.
  • Recognition through an award-winning safety culture.
  • Flexible hybrid work arrangement.
  • Supportive team environment with opportunities to grow.
  • Employee referral program.
  • A company that is actively expanding.
  • Recognition as a Great Place to Work for 2025–2026.
