Job description

About Dexterra Group

Dexterra Group is a financially solid, publicly traded organization with a broad footprint across North America and many full-time and part-time roles available at any time. The company focuses on more than employment alone, aiming to create meaningful work in an environment built on stability, diversity, inclusion, teamwork, recognition, and healthy work-life balance. For more than 75 years, the businesses that now make up Dexterra Group have supported North American clients by developing and managing built environments that are important to local communities and the economy.

Its guiding idea is simple: work that matters, with people who care.

Role Overview

Dexterra Group is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to join its Supply Chain/Procurement team. This role is equivalent to what many companies call a Category Manager, but here the emphasis is on strengthening supplier partnerships and shaping sourcing strategies that improve service and business performance. The position is centered on food categories such as protein, produce, and grocery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement category strategy roadmaps that support Dexterra’s business goals.
  • Run RFPs, review bids, assess suppliers, and lead selection decisions.
  • Find opportunities to reduce costs, consolidate suppliers, and improve specifications.
  • Apply sourcing strategies across food and non-food channels based on operational requirements.
  • Draft, negotiate, and oversee MSAs, including pricing, scope, and contract timelines.
  • Manage the complete contract lifecycle while ensuring compliance and strong performance.
  • Oversee supplier segmentation, supplier performance, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Work with multiple business units to improve alignment, scale, and procurement efficiency.
  • Lead the deployment and adoption of sourcing strategies across national and international teams.
  • Use data and analytics to track spend, supplier performance, and compliance.
  • Carry out supplier risk reviews and help develop mitigation plans.
  • Improve supply chain processes, tools, and category programs.
  • Maintain procurement systems, including preferred supplier catalogues and internal platforms.
  • Support governance, compliance, and adherence to procurement standards.

Qualifications

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Supply Chain, Business, or Commerce, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in food-related strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management.
  • Strong background in contract negotiation and contract management; sales experience is considered an asset.
  • Solid understanding of category-based purchasing, supplier capabilities, and distribution workflows.
  • A collaborative approach, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to innovate.
  • Advanced computer proficiency, especially in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with NetSuite is an added advantage.
  • Ability to manage priorities, make decisions, and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to health and safety, along with understanding of foodservice product usage.

Why Join Dexterra Supply Chain
