Role overview
This leadership role oversees the full recreation experience across the pool and beach areas, with responsibility for maintenance, day-to-day upkeep, cleanliness, and cabana operations. The position is also expected to model excellent service standards for both guests and associates, strengthen the service culture, support employee fairness and satisfaction, and help implement departmental plans that align with brand initiatives and financial targets.

Education and experience
Applicants should have either a high school diploma or GED with 3 years of experience in recreation/health club operations or a related professional field, or a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Health Education, Physical Education, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major, along with 3 years of related experience.
What you will do
- Lead and supervise recreation team members, ensuring smooth daily operations and the ability to step into team roles when needed.
- Track service quality and maintain standards that meet guest expectations every day.
- Apply strong knowledge of role-specific systems, products, and processes to support operations.
- Use communication and people skills to guide the team, support sound business decisions, and lead by example with honesty and integrity.
- Plan and coordinate events, programs, activities, and team schedules.
- Provide support to guests, coworkers, or other individuals when needed, including personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or similar care.
- Set priorities, define goals, and organize work to ensure objectives are met.
- Manage third-party vendors such as water sports and scuba providers.
- Order supplies and make sure staff have the tools, equipment, uniforms, and materials required to do their work.
- Develop and oversee children’s programming, including activity coordination and purchasing necessary equipment and supplies.
- Organize group experiences such as sand painting, bonfires, and team-building activities.
- Manage the pool and beach areas, including upkeep, cleanliness, maintenance, and cabana unit operations.
- Act as a service role model by consistently demonstrating the right behaviors.
- Deliver service that goes beyond expectations to improve satisfaction and encourage repeat business.
- Help improve service standards by understanding guest needs, coaching team members, and offering guidance and feedback.
- Oversee Human Resources-related activities within the Recreation Department.
- Review employee and guest satisfaction outcomes and ensure corrective actions are taken where needed.
- Identify development needs and support team members through coaching, mentoring, and skills-building.
- Take part in performance appraisal activities and provide feedback as required.
- Coordinate all departmental training activities.
- Build trust, respect, and cooperation across the team while clearly communicating expectations and performance goals.
