Director of Finance / Chief Financial Officer - Canada

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the US CFO and collaborating closely with the Canadian Executive Leadership team and US Finance colleagues, the Director of Finance for Canada will spearhead strategic financial oversight and leadership across all company finance functions. This position is accountable for propelling financial health, supporting expansion initiatives, and guaranteeing compliance and precision in financial reporting and controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement both short- and long-term financial strategies that align with corporate goals.
• Collaborate with the VP General Manager and other leaders to enhance business outcomes, profitability, and operational effectiveness.
• Advise on significant business decisions, investments, partnerships, and growth strategies with financial expertise.
• Supervise budgeting, forecasting, and business modeling for Canadian operations and maintain financial models essential for strategic planning.
• Analyze financial performance regularly, reviewing KPIs and trends to inform leadership decisions.
• Conduct specialized financial analyses on pricing, profitability, market entry, inventory, capital use, and other initiatives.
• Manage all accounting duties including accounts payable/receivable, collections, payroll, tax compliance, and financial reporting, ensuring timely and accurate period closes.
• Enforce robust internal controls, governance, and adherence to accounting standards and regulations.
• Oversee cash flow, working capital, and overall financial stability.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial, tax, regulatory and statutory obligations.
• Lead interactions with external auditors, tax consultants, banking partners, and regulators.
• Develop risk management strategies to protect company assets and reduce financial exposure.
• Guide finance and accounting teams by fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Establish clear performance goals and deliver ongoing coaching and skill development.
• Improve processes and operational efficiencies within finance functions.
• Collaborate with Analytics and Operations teams to elevate financial data quality and reporting accuracy.
• Enhance financial dashboards and reporting tools to deliver actionable business intelligence.
• Utilize analytical insights to support strategic business decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required; MBA or similar advanced degree preferred.
• Professional accounting certification such as CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA is mandatory.
• 10 to 15 years of progressively responsible finance and accounting experience, including senior leadership roles such as CFO, VP Finance, Finance Director, or equivalent.
• Demonstrated expertise in financial planning & analysis, accounting, reporting, taxation, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management.
• Proven ability to collaborate with executive teams to foster growth and profitability.
• Experience managing external audits, banking relationships, and regulatory compliance is essential.
• Strong strategic thinking, advanced analytical prowess, and effective problem-solving capabilities.
