Overview
Michael Aram Inc. seeks a Director of E-Commerce to oversee daily operations across multiple brand websites, including Michael Aram and Anabel Aram, covering the US and European markets. The role encompasses full responsibility for online store performance, conversion rates, and campaign implementation. It requires deep familiarity with Shopify code and agency-managed tracking systems used for advertising and analytics. This position may be based at the corporate office, offered as hybrid, or fully remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the customer experience across several storefronts by refining design elements, copy, navigation, and FAQ content.
- Develop, launch, and maintain email, automation, and segmentation campaigns using Klaviyo or similar platforms, ensuring uptime and revenue goals for the Michael Aram wholesale channel.
- Act as primary technical liaison with external advertising, SEO, and analytics agencies, overseeing precise event and pixel tracking (Meta Pixel, GA4, server-side tagging).
- Maintain product assortments, collections, cross-selling tactics, and recommendation systems across multiple brands.
- Track key performance indicators such as conversion, sell-through, average order value, margins, and checkout abandonment, with the ability to analyze root causes behind changes.
- Manage daily storefront operations proactively to identify optimization opportunities and technical risks before they affect revenue.
- Implement a rigorous change management process for alterations in tracking, consent, checkout configurations, or third-party app integrations to avoid undocumented production changes.
- Conduct audits and manage Shopify app integrations and permissions, including third-party tracking, consent management, and checkout-related applications.
Required Experience and Skills
- Over five years of experience managing ecommerce operations on Shopify or Shopify+, preferably across multiple storefronts or brands.
- Hands-on execution of email and SMS marketing campaigns within Klaviyo or equivalent email service providers.
- Direct management of relationships with advertising and analytics agencies, including technical approval of tracking implementations.
- Proficient copywriting skills specialized in ecommerce and lifecycle marketing.
- Applied analytics expertise with the capability to generate and interpret complex performance reports.
- Bachelor's degree mandatory.
- Demonstrated mastery of Shopify+, including theme customization and app/integration management.
- Proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Shopify Liquid for troubleshooting and code edits without escalation.
- Experience installing, configuring, and removing Shopify apps responsibly to prevent orphaned code or broken dependencies.
- Strong understanding and independent auditing capability of event and pixel tracking technologies such as Meta Pixel, GA4, and server-side tagging tools like Stape or GTM server-side.
- Ability to critically assess and validate technical changes proposed by advertising or SEO agencies prior to deployment.
- Proven records in building and managing effective email/SMS flows including performance-driven segmentation and automation campaigns.
- Expertise in analytics platforms including GA4 and Shopify Analytics, with strong ability to interpret metrics related to conversion, sales velocity, average order size, margins, and abandonment rates.
- Experience overseeing multiple Shopify stores simultaneously, maintaining clear organization of configurations, integrations, and campaign schedules.
- Exceptional attention to detail and urgency in identifying and preventing technical issues impacting revenue.
- Excellent communication and project management abilities, including documenting technical decisions for audiences without technical backgrounds.
Compensation
Annual salary ranges between $130,000 and $150,000, complemented by a performance-based bonus dependent on experience.
