Director of Allied Health

Position Overview

The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), a premier public healthcare facility in Ghana, is seeking qualified professionals for the position of Director of Allied Health. This leadership role requires comprehensive management and advisory responsibilities over the Allied Health Services at KATH, including oversight of research and training for specialist and postgraduate Allied Health personnel in partnership with accredited institutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of short, medium, and long-term strategic plans and budgets related to Allied Health Services.
• Establish governance frameworks and infection control systems tailored to Allied Health Sciences.
• Support, monitor, and evaluate programs to ensure clinical care quality and effectiveness.
• Design systems for reviewing clinical interventions, financing strategies, and resource distribution.
• Oversee the development and management of clinical information systems supporting Allied Health operations.
• Implement sustainable and effective clinical care field programs.
• Supervise technical support activities and coordination with program implementation partners.
• Develop and maintain monitoring and evaluation processes.
• Ensure achievement of strategic organizational objectives through effective leadership of Allied Health services.

General Eligibility Criteria

• Strong leadership skills for managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Extensive understanding of healthcare policies, operational procedures, and quality assurance in the health sector.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with a collaborative approach.
• Capacity to work autonomously, handle workload pressures, and meet strict deadlines.
• Competent in problem-solving, advocacy, and negotiation.
• Proficient in report writing and competent with computer applications.
• Demonstrates self-discipline, emotional control, conflict management, and methodological work practices.
• Goal-driven with honesty and ethical standards.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Master's degree in Allied Health Science and an undergraduate degree in a relevant Allied Health field from an accredited university.
• Specialized qualification in Allied Health Science and in good standing with the Allied Health Professionals Council of Ghana.
• Postgraduate qualification either in the core profession or in health administration/management.
• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in Allied Health, with at least 5 years in managerial roles.
• Current rank of Deputy Chief or Deputy Director or higher at the time of application.
• Certification in Health Leadership and Management, Public Administration, or an equivalent credential.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities alongside ongoing professional development.

Location

This role is based in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, Ghana.
