Overview

The City of Nanaimo in British Columbia is seeking a Director for their Facilities Department. Reporting to the General Manager, Community Services and Deputy CAO, this leadership role focuses on providing comprehensive oversight and management of civic facilities, including planning, project management, asset and energy management, and custodial services.

Role and Responsibilities

The Director leads a team comprising both unionized and exempt employees, develops policies and municipal bylaws aligned with the City's strategic goals and governmental regulations, and advises City Council and senior management. As a member of the City's Senior Management team, the Director contributes to overall administrative planning and management of municipal operations.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess a degree in Engineering, Building Technology, or a related field. A minimum of eight years of progressively responsible experience is necessary, including extensive senior management exposure in unionized settings. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. The candidate must have a valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver’s License.

Salary & Work Schedule

This permanent full-time exempt position offers 35 working hours per week. The salary range is between $161,427.71 and $171,731.61 annually, along with a competitive benefits package.
