Job description
Role overview
The Director of Brand and Integrated Marketing serves as the main guardian of the Insomnia Cookies brand and leads how that brand shows up across every channel and customer interaction. This person defines the brand’s positioning, purpose, and perspective, and also directs the integrated marketing calendar, media relations, and partnership strategy that deliver the brand message at the right time.
The role works in close partnership with the creative team, which develops the visual identity, storytelling, and execution of the brand. It also has direct leadership responsibility for the PR Manager and the Social and Influencer Lead, shaping the brand’s voice and presence across earned media and community channels as well as the strategy behind them.
Located at the overlap of consumer insight, brand strategy, communications, and performance, this leader turns customer and cultural understanding into a unified brand roadmap and then drives execution across campaigns, launches, partnerships, media, and experiential moments to strengthen long-term brand equity and growth.
Brand strategy and stewardship
- Set and continuously refine the brand strategy, including positioning, architecture, value proposition, and brand promise.
- Act as the lead custodian of the brand, making sure it stays consistent and well-protected across marketing, product, channel experience, partnerships, and operations.
- Create and maintain brand systems, rules, and boundaries that allow the business to scale without weakening the brand.
Creative partnership
- Work closely with the Creative Director to turn brand strategy into strong creative output across channels and touchpoints.
- Give clear strategic guidance and objectives that shape creative briefs, campaign development, and delivery.
- Ensure all creative work reflects the brand strategy, business priorities, and audience insights.
Integrated campaigns and calendar
- Own the full integrated marketing calendar, coordinating brand campaigns, LTO launches, seasonal moments, and cultural tentpoles so activations feel connected across channels.
- Lead the brand and integrated strategy for product launches and partnerships so each initiative supports one cohesive brand story.
- Act as the link between brand strategy and go-to-market execution, keeping cross-functional teams aligned on timing and priorities.
Media relations and communications
- Lead the PR Manager and oversee media relations strategy, including the brand’s editorial stance and high-stakes messaging approvals.
- Own crisis communications planning and executive messaging to safeguard brand equity and customer trust.
- Support earnings communications and major business disclosures by guiding messaging and securing relevant press coverage that reinforces the growth story.
Social, influencer, and partnerships
- Set the strategy and creative direction for social and influencer activity through the team lead, guiding content, platform presence, and creator collaborations that build relevance and reach.
- Manage partnerships from end to end, identifying and activating collaborations that boost frequency, lifetime value, and cultural relevance.
- Oversee experiential marketing programs that are built to generate cultural buzz, social sharing, and measurable business results.
Consumer insight and cultural relevance
- Develop a deep understanding of the customer, especially behaviors, motivations, and cultural context, with particular attention to Gen Z and emerging audiences.
- Turn insights into usable brand platforms, messaging, and connection opportunities.
- Track brand health, perception, and sentiment to inform ongoing brand evolution.
Brand activation and performance
- Guide the brand strategy behind integrated campaigns, product launches, and partnerships so they support growth goals and KPIs.
- Partner with Digital, Growth, and Operations teams to activate the brand across paid, owned, and earned channels.
- Design brand initiatives to produce measurable outcomes such as acquisition, frequency, retention, and lifetime value.
Measurement and business impact
- Work with the Marketing Analyst to define and monitor brand metrics such as awareness, consideration, affinity, loyalty, and equity.
- Connect brand investment and strategy to business results including acquisition, retention, and long-term value.
- Use data, testing, and learnings to improve brand strategy, messaging, and channel mix over time.
Leadership
- Serve as a trusted brand authority and advisor across the organization.
- Lead and coach two direct reports, the PR Manager and the Social and Influencer Lead, while partnering with the Project Manager to keep the integrated calendar moving.
- Influence cross-functional partners to embed brand thinking into day-to-day decisions.
- Balance strong brand discipline with thoughtful evolution as the business and culture change.
Qualifications and experience
This role calls for 8 to 12+ years of marketing leadership experience, ideally within a consumer brand such as household, lifestyle, food and beverage, QSR, or fast-casual. The right candidate should have a demonstrated ability to connect brand strategy with performance marketing and business growth, and a strong record of leading integrated strategy across PR, social, influencer, and partnerships while also managing the people who execute that work.
Experience leading a PR function and handling executive visibility and crisis communications is important, whether through direct ownership or by managing a PR lead. Candidates should also understand how brand supports acquisition, loyalty, equity, and long-term value, and should bring deep familiarity with social platforms and Gen Z behavior.
Cross-functional experience across marketing, digital, product, and operations is needed, along with strong strategic thinking, communication, and presentation skills. The role requires comfort influencing senior leaders and operating in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment as the senior-most voice on brand and integrated marketing. Direct experience managing leads or managers, not only individual contributors, is preferred, along with a passion for brand, culture, food, and guest experience.
