Job description
Role overview
The Digital Marketing Assistant / Social Media Manager supports the organisation’s online presence by planning, producing, publishing, and improving content across social and digital channels. The focus of the role is to build brand visibility, encourage audience interaction, and contribute to business growth through thoughtful content and performance-led marketing.
Core responsibilities
This position is responsible for maintaining a structured content calendar, preparing and scheduling posts, and coordinating both visual and written campaign assets for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and similar channels. It also involves writing compelling copy and working with multimedia content so that all outputs remain consistent with brand identity and marketing goals.
In day-to-day operations, the role handles social media activity, monitors audience interactions, replies to comments and messages, and helps keep the brand voice steady across channels. It also reviews key performance indicators including reach, engagement, follower growth, impressions, and conversions, then uses those findings to improve future content and campaign results.
Beyond social media, the role supports wider digital marketing work such as email campaigns, paid social initiatives, and promotional activities. It includes competitor review, audience research, and trend tracking to uncover opportunities for stronger reach and engagement. The role may also contribute ideas for content, storytelling, and campaign planning, while coordinating closely with design, content, marketing, and sales teams to ensure joined-up messaging across all channels.
Qualifications and working style
The ideal candidate should understand digital marketing principles, social media strategy, content development, and audience engagement. Content must be adapted appropriately for different platforms and target groups. Experience with social media management tools, scheduling platforms, and analytics software is important, while familiarity with digital advertising platforms would be an added advantage.
Strong written communication is needed to create clear, engaging, and brand-consistent material across channels. The role also requires an analytical approach to assess performance data, spot patterns, and adjust content strategy based on insights. Strong organisation and time management are essential for handling multiple campaigns, keeping pace with changing trends, and maintaining consistency in a fast-moving environment.
