Job description
About Zinc Network
For more than fifteen years, Zinc Network has supported clients in navigating intricate challenges at the crossroads of security, technology, and behaviour change. Collaborating with a worldwide network of media partners, communities, and influencers, we help understand complex issues, design behavioural interventions, craft compelling campaigns, activate grassroots networks, and evaluate impact. Our clients include governments, NGOs, and private sector organisations working on critical issues such as protecting children online, reinforcing democratic resilience, and advocating for purpose-driven technologies and organisations.
We are currently developing Kora, an AI-powered platform that systematises our expertise into scalable technology to accelerate and reduce costs for interventions, while enabling clients and grassroots partners to independently design and deliver initiatives.
Amid a world of accelerating technological advancement, shifting security threats, and changing geopolitical and economic dynamics, Zinc stays at the forefront, addressing the most challenging problems where these forces converge.
Role Overview
We are broadening our freelance pool for Digital Content Strategists—experts skilled at interpreting campaign briefs, applying audience insights, and crafting digital-first plans that maximise reach and effectiveness across platforms. This position involves steering content direction by advising on formats, placements, and approaches tailored to campaign objectives and audience behaviours. While strategic planning is central, the role also demands hands-on content production and adaptation, including social media copy, short-form videos, and graphics, to bring creative ideas to life. This is a unique chance to impact globally significant, purpose-driven campaigns by integrating digital strategy, creative innovation, and practical content creation.
Key Responsibilities
- Convert campaign briefs into detailed content strategies, advising on formats, platforms, aspect ratios, placement, and tone.
- Offer original contributions during brainstorming and project discussions to shape campaign narratives and social stories.
- Utilise research and platform analytics to understand audience preferences and behaviours, translating insights into strategic content plans.
- Manage content planning and optimise materials to ensure they resonate with audiences and meet campaign goals.
- Design and guide paid and organic content distribution strategies, determining optimal channels, budget allocations, and enhancement techniques to maximise reach and impact.
- Engage in practical content creation as needed, producing short-form videos, animations, explainers, graphics, carousels, and social cards.
- Transform existing creative assets into varied digital formats to increase effectiveness across multiple platforms.
- Keep abreast of digital trends, platform updates, and user behaviour changes to inform strategy and execution.
- Track and analyse performance metrics such as reach, engagement, retention, and conversion to assess content success and guide future campaigns.
- Collaborate closely with designers, researchers, and campaign teams, incorporating feedback to ensure top-quality deliverables.
Qualifications & Skills
- Extensive experience creating digital and social media content strategies that engage target audiences.
- Deep knowledge of engagement drivers on platforms including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Telegram.
- Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to develop clear, actionable plans from initial briefs.
- Proficiency in content production tools such as Canva and Adobe Premiere; familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite is advantageous.
- Strong time management abilities and adaptability within dynamic, collaborative environments.
- Awareness of diverse audience sensitivities and sociopolitical contexts relevant to content strategy.
Why Join Zinc?
- Play a key role in campaigns that support and protect open societies.
- Influence the strategic direction of innovative, digital-first campaigns.
- Work alongside international teams, applying insights across global initiatives.
