Role Overview
The Deputy Head, KYC will support the leadership of the KYC function and help ensure effective client onboarding, due diligence, monitoring, and compliance operations across the business.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will partner with the Head of KYC to manage the department and step in when needed during their absence.
You will act as the go-to specialist for onboarding across all business lines, while also guiding and mentoring other team members.
The role involves working with internal and external stakeholders to spot control weaknesses, close process gaps, and drive improvements.
You will own Counterparty Due Diligence and manage its recurring refresh cycles.
You will also review the quality of KYC onboarding cases and periodic review files, and oversee ongoing monitoring tasks such as escalated name-screening alerts and scheduled client reviews.
Maintaining compliance records, control logs, and supporting documentation will also be part of your responsibilities.
In addition, you will represent the company professionally, uphold regulatory standards, deliver a strong client experience, and contribute to compliance projects and other ad hoc initiatives as needed.
Candidate Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related discipline is required; an advanced qualification or professional certification such as CAMS or ICA is preferred.
You should bring at least 5 years of experience in KYC/AML, and leadership or team management exposure is an advantage.
Previous experience in a retail brokerage or online trading platform environment is mandatory.
Strong knowledge of AML/CFT rules and client due diligence practices is essential.
Experience in, or a strong interest in, virtual assets and blockchain is considered a plus.
You should also be capable of handling regulatory inspections, audits, and remediation efforts.
Excellent analytical thinking, sound decision-making, and problem-solving abilities are needed, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence and coach stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, accountable, and able to work to demanding deadlines without sacrificing quality.
