Department Manager - Mt Roskill, Auckland

About the Role

Join Bunnings as a Department Manager overseeing daily operations, sales, and stock management within your specialized department. Collaborate with fellow Department Managers across various sections including Service, Inside the Home, Builders, and Lifestyles & Garden. You will report directly to your Operations and Complex Managers while leading a team of over 20 members to deliver exceptional service and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of 20+ employees to maintain a safe, engaged, and productive work environment.
• Perform duty manager roles such as opening and closing the store on weekdays, weekends, and public holidays.
• Enhance team capability by fostering a culture focused on best customer experience and safety compliance.
• Plan team rosters strategically to ensure service excellence and drive department sales through effective merchandising and monitoring of key performance indicators.
• Address customer feedback proactively to improve overall experience.
• Manage stock accuracy including adjustments, replenishment consistency, and loss prevention protocols.

Candidate Profile

• Strong leadership and influencing skills with previous experience managing large teams, ideally in retail or high-volume customer service environments.
• Commitment to championing a safe and secure working environment by leading safety culture and ensuring adherence to policies.
• Proven ability to manage store operations, including opening and closing duties and maintaining smooth trade.
• Expertise in performance management, team engagement, and recognition.
• Proficiency in rostering, planning, and delivering on service promises.
• Understanding of retail fundamentals such as merchandising excellence, sales targets, stock control, availability, and loss prevention.

Additional Information

This role requires working a minimum of one weekend in every three and occasional public holidays. Applicants must be at least 15 years old.
