About the Role
Oral Health Services Tasmania is the primary dental care provider for eligible residents across Tasmania, divided into Adult, Prosthetic, and Children’s services. This position supports the southern region team in managing and facilitating the workflow of both traditional and digital dental prosthetic devices. The Dental Laboratory Assistant plays a crucial role in assisting the Laboratory Manager with organizing and maintaining efficient operations related to dental appliance production.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Laboratory Manager with the workflow coordination for dental technicians and prosthetists.
- Carry out tasks such as pouring and trimming dental models, fabricating trays, mouthguards, and splints.
- Manage internal administrative duties along with receiving and dispatching dental goods.
- Support monitoring of dental appliance manufacturing processes and workflow management.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience as a dental technician, laboratory assistant, dental assistant, or in an administrative role, with a genuine interest in public health service and its patients.
- Advanced computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and the Titanium client information management system, or the ability to quickly learn these.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize and manage varying workloads effectively and meeting deadlines.
Additional Information
- This is a fixed-term, full-time, day shift role working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible and continuing until 29 January 2027. Hours may be negotiated with the successful candidate.
- Travel within Tasmania may be required.
- Compliance with Work Health and Safety by wearing provided protective clothing and eyewear is required.
- Annual hearing assessments are mandatory.
Salary and Benefits
- Annual salary between $70,033 and $75,114, excluding a 12% superannuation contribution.
- Salary is aligned with the Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025.
