Job description

Role overview

In this position, you will help shape the expansion of critical infrastructure by negotiating agreements with government bodies and senior external stakeholders. The work centers on guiding economic development frameworks across India, handling regulatory and tax-related considerations, and aligning legal, finance, and policy inputs to support third-party strategies. You will also help ensure infrastructure programs are delivered successfully while managing partnerships that influence the regional roadmap.

Google’s infrastructure requirements extend well beyond servers. As products and services scale globally, the Strategic Negotiation function works in the background to secure the infrastructure needed for future growth, including physical data center capacity and other major assets. In this role, you will bring market insight and commercial judgment to secure cost-effective solutions, coordinate with project teams, and present recommendations to senior technical leadership. Effective deal-making in this position can create substantial operating cost savings and affect many areas of the business.

This role is part of the AI and Infrastructure organization, which focuses on delivering AI and infrastructure at large scale with high efficiency, reliability, and speed. The team supports Googlers, Google Cloud customers, and billions of users worldwide through work spanning software, hardware, TPUs, Vertex AI, global networking, data center operations, systems research, and more.

Location preference

When applying, you will have the opportunity to indicate a preferred work location from the following options: Mumbai, Maharashtra; Bengaluru, Karnataka; New Delhi, Delhi; Gurugram, Haryana; or Hyderabad, Telangana.

Minimum qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent level of practical experience.
  • At least 6 years of experience leading negotiations or business development efforts.
  • Experience working with cross-functional partners and outside stakeholders, including government agencies.
  • Background in economic development topics such as direct or indirect taxes, tax policy, or infrastructure development.
  • Experience in the local data center and digital infrastructure market.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in data center location strategy or industrial strategy in India.
  • Exposure to power transmission and distribution, telecommunications infrastructure, data center technology, industrial electrical and cooling systems, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with colocation agreements, industrial site selection, real estate assessment, acquisition, development, construction, utility agreement management, energy testing, clean energy initiatives, or financial modeling.
  • Experience with real estate markets across APAC and infrastructure setup in APAC markets.
  • Experience working on APAC economic development policy in infrastructure transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead confidential initiatives while balancing value and timing considerations, and support the creation of broader project plans.
  • Act as the commercial interface between vendors and internal teams, while helping define regional or market-segment strategy for infrastructure development programs and shaping third-party strategy at the executive level.
  • Partner with teams such as tax, finance, legal, policy, and communications on a wide range of economic development matters.
  • Advise regionally on economic development agreements, including review of commercial terms, tax implications, and infrastructure funding structures.
