Job Overview

The Custodian is entrusted with maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation standards of designated areas, ensuring a safe and orderly environment at all times.

Primary Duties

• Carry out routine janitorial functions according to a daily checklist.
• Handle hazardous waste management tasks including collection, classification, sorting, storage, labeling, shipping, receiving, cleaning, recycling, and packaging of special and hazardous waste materials.
• Operate motorized cleaning machinery efficiently and safely.
• Keep assigned spaces orderly and well-maintained on a daily basis.
• Report any unsafe conditions or incidents promptly to supervisory personnel.
• Adhere rigorously to all safety protocols, corporate policies, and procedures.
• Address and prevent risky behaviors in oneself and colleagues.
• Collaborate effectively with team members to complete work assignments and fill in staffing gaps as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and order of the work environment.
• Follow company protocols, policies, and take direction from supervisors professionally.
• Engage courteously and professionally with team leads, supervisors, coworkers, managers, and customers.
• Assist shift leads with completing outstanding tasks as needed.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment during all tasks.
• Present a professional appearance and conduct reflecting company standards.
• Understand and prioritize customer service and satisfaction.
• Comprehend reporting systems and environmental standards relevant to the role.

Qualifications

Successful candidates often have 3 to 6 months of training or relevant experience, though no formal education requirements are stipulated. A combination of education and experience that equips the individual to perform essential job functions is acceptable.

A valid driver's license may be necessary. Completion of all required safety and task-specific training certifications is mandatory. Forklift certification might be required depending on assignments.

Bilingual abilities are considered advantageous.

Effective verbal and written communication skills, along with the capability to interpret instructions, manuals, and procedures correctly, are essential.

A solid understanding of cleaning techniques, equipment maintenance, and the proper, safe usage of cleaning compounds and chemicals is expected.

Physical Requirements and Environment

• This role requires the ability to frequently sit, listen, and communicate.
• Employees must be capable of lifting or moving weights up to 35 pounds.
• The work setting includes all environmental factors generally encountered while performing custodial duties.

Shift and Pay

The position involves working Monday through Saturday from 6:30 PM until 10:30 PM.

The hourly wage ranges between $13.25 and $14.25.
