About the Role
The Yard Person role focuses on maintaining order, cleanliness, and safety within the equipment yard. This position entails organizing heavy machinery and equipment, facilitating loading and unloading processes, and performing routine site maintenance to support smooth branch activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Arrange machinery, attachments, and industrial goods in an organized manner within the yard.
- Safely load and unload equipment on delivery vehicles, ensuring secure transport.
- Maintain site cleanliness by sweeping driveways, removing debris, and keeping pathways accessible.
- Clean and inspect machinery, including pressure washing units and checking fluid levels.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards by identifying hazards and following corporate safety protocols.
- Support inventory by assisting sales and parts teams in verifying equipment serial numbers.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean/5S projects, including floor cleaning, trash removal, vehicle upkeep, and organizing new inventory.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum education: High School diploma; forklift certification is beneficial.
- Experience: 14 to 28 months in industrial yard or warehouse settings preferred.
- Physical requirements: Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and working outside in varying weather conditions.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills for coordination with drivers, technicians, and sales personnel.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with technical, safety, logistics, and warehousing processes; competent with MS Office applications.
- Additional experience in equipment rental, goods receiving, high-paced environments, and safety/5S practices is advantageous.
