General Labourer - Farm

Job Overview

Harster Greenhouses Inc., located in W. Flamborough, ON, is looking to hire seasonal, full-time general labourers to support their floriculture operations. These temporary positions are on-site and based in a rural area not reachable by public transit, so having your own transportation is essential.

Key Duties

• Filling and transporting pots and trays
• Making plant cuttings, planting, transplanting, and moving liners and potted plants
• Watering crops and packing plants for shipment
• Loading and unloading trucks
• Maintaining cleanliness around greenhouses and workspaces
• Operating and performing light maintenance on greenhouse equipment
• Conducting light ground maintenance and weeding inside and around greenhouses

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

This role is physically demanding, requiring bending, crouching, kneeling, standing, and walking for extended periods. The greenhouse environment can be hot, humid, cold, or damp depending on the season and crop location. The workplace is fast-paced with tight deadlines and repetitive tasks.

Qualifications and Eligibility

• No formal education, degree, or prior experience needed
• Ability to distinguish colors
• Capable of operating and maintaining farm equipment and machinery
• Authorized to work in Canada (Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or temporary resident with valid work permit)

Compensation and Schedule

• Hourly wage: $17.60
• Expected work hours: 40 to 65 hours per week
• Work schedule includes evenings and weekends during peak periods
