Custodial Lead

The Custodial Lead is responsible for keeping assigned spaces clean, sanitary, and orderly while also offering hands-on direction to custodial team members. The role supports daily operations, helps maintain safety standards, and ensures cleaning tasks are completed according to schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out janitorial and custodial tasks as assigned.
• Complete all items listed on the daily work schedule.
• Provide direction and support to custodians when instructed by the Custodial Supervisor.
• Help with staff scheduling and training as needed.
• Use motorized cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
• Monitor equipment inventory, upkeep, and repair needs.
• Arrange cleanup and repair work when required.
• Maintain the day-to-day condition of the assigned area.
• Track and replenish supply inventory.
• Support the Custodial Supervisor with purchasing cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Perform inspections related to quality, service, and safety.
• Escalate incidents and hazardous conditions to the supervisor.
• Report employee-related concerns and customer issues to the supervisor.
• Watch for proper use of personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies.
• Address unsafe behavior and notify the supervisor right away.
• Suggest corrective actions for areas needing improvement.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• At least 1 year of related experience is required.
• Must be able to read and understand instructions, procedures, manuals, and related documents.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and safe chemical use is important.
• Ability to maintain and care for cleaning equipment is required.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification is required.
• Completion of all safety and task training certifications is required.
• A valid driver’s license may be required.
• Forklift certification may be required.
• Must be able to lift more than 30 lbs per site requirement and up to 35 lbs as part of the physical demands of the role.

Physical demands and work environment

The role may require frequent sitting, speaking, and listening. Employees must be able to perform essential duties in the stated work environment and may need reasonable accommodation if applicable.

Schedule and compensation

This is a full-time onsite position with a Monday through Friday schedule from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Compensation is $17.00 per hour.
